Lessons from my lunchbox - a start

I guess the biggest lesson my lunchbox has taught me is to make an effort.

Even just a tiny bit of planning the night before pays off big time the following day.

You might think your cooking or your combos aren’t that great, but they’re not going to get any tasty unless you try. Listening to the radio this morning & listening to a guy say how was the envy of his worksite as everyone (everyday!) admired his lunch of chicken & rice as they had to waste valuable time heading to the servo for a sausage roll. As Michael Pollan says ‘ you shouldn’t buy your food where you buy your fuel’.

It doesn’t need to take long. Whilst making the morning coffee, I can also make an assemblage. Jars are lined up - salad mix (lasts up to 2 weeks in a glass jar if washed & spun dry)- cooked veg (night before) - a sauce or dressing - nuts from the cupboard(depending where you’re going - schools are a nut free zone). Shake a bit from each into a container & away you go!

Lucky for us - there are fruit trees in the backyard, so some of these go in too. This one features peachcotts.

Pack from home & then there’s more time to appreciate sitting somewhere shady.
