About our founders…

  • Waaaaay back in the day, mint plants feared me. Raising our gorgeous kids, keeping the household humming and work often meant watering fell off the radar.

Yet, through curiosity and appetite, Popes Produce was founded back in 2015  expanding a series of pots into the backyard wonderland covering ⅕ acre today.

Over time, we’ve shared the market garden through a series of workshops and a community supported agriculture program. I currently operate a local school kitchen garden and  love the adventure of growing food.

It’s a journey, evolving through observation allowing many tasty pitstops along the way. Honestly - it’s remarkable any of the strawberries make it into the house.

The Outdoor Living Classroom at Kemblawarra Public School is where you’ll find me mid-week during school terms.

Foodtalks Illawarra and Bulli Crop Swap are Bulli food initiatives I’m proud to have founded with co-creators Suzy Pickles and Emma Huber.

  • Often found deep in a building project, Ben’s favourite materials are salvaged ones he can repurpose.

With a background in education, and years of working in sustainability, his talent for being able to translate complex subjects into easily digestible language is invaluable.

Patience and manifestation are his super powers when working with infrastructure, and any day spent building must most importantly starts with a morning surf.

Popes Produce is a suburban backyard wonderland creating experiences reconnecting busy folk to tasty homegrown and handbuilt ways to enjoy life.
