Edible garden consultations for flat out folk on the grow

Consultations and support for busy folk to get their productive gardens out of the ground & onto their plates with minimal fuss and maximum enjoyment.

Why an edible garden & not just a row of mondo grass?

Growing food is so much more than simply an opportunity to stick something in your mouth.

It’s connection.

It’s getting grounded.

It’s creativity at play.

It’s saving you from having to put your pants back on & head out for a bunch of parsley - half of which will probably slime out in the fridge because it got forgotten.

Growing an edible garden is an opportunity to park busy by the door and explore.

Love to grow an edible garden, but no idea what to plant or how to go about it?

This individual edible garden consultation laying the base for your own produce isle in the sun is $185.

An hour at your place involves us completing a walk through of the proposed site discussing the core elements required to make your dreams a tasty reality.

(Think sunlight, micro climates, existing plants and structures, clarifying priorities, what type of soil you’ve got access to, identifying quick wins vs the long-game structure and you’re on the right track.)

( let’s make a picnic out of the overwhelm)

We’ll work with the holistic framework of permaculture - a set of design tools as nature intended, keeping in mind the principles of earth care, people care and fair share.

A little more about your garden consultant Sarah…

With 10 years experience as a backyard market gardener and 20 years engagement with the local food sector, Sarah has experienced most of the things possible for a home grower.

From floods, droughts, heatwaves, pests and more - she’s grown through it all in their own backyard market garden.

Sarah is taking bookings for walk and talk edible garden consultations to help you grow well. She can take you from the ‘where to begin’ overwhelm towards creating edible space that fills the soul as well as the dinner plate.

Kind words from past clients

Sarah is one of the most talented and inspiring people I know, and is a font of knowledge about all things food and gardening. Sarah has built this experience over many years getting her hands 'in the soil' as a commercial market gardener, as well as by reading every book, podcast, website and film related to food and farming that she can find. Sarah is incredibly generous with sharing this  knowledge, and has helped me on my gardening journey in so many ways. Right at the beginning she helped me plan my garden, mapping out zones for herbs, vegetables, fruit trees and natives. She has shared practical tips along the way such as how to deal with particular pests in our area, where to source seeds and seedlings, irrigation systems and how to manage soil fertility. Sarah is also a big picture thinker, and holds an enormous amount of knowledge about farming systems, the global food system, health, sustainability and soil.

Suzy, Bulli

I couldn’t be happier with the incredible work done by Sarah at Popes Produce.

From the very beginning, Sarah took the time to understand the specific conditions and needs of my garden and created a plan that truely suited my space. Her knowledge and passion was obvious, and I learned so much throughout the process. Not only did Sarah help me establish a thriving vegetable garden, but she also gave me the skills and confidence to maintain it long term.

I now feel equipped to keep it flourishing season after season.

I highly recommend Sarah’s services to anyone wanting a productive and sustainable garden.

Bronwyn, Figtree

“Working with Sarah was an outstanding experience. Her deep knowledge, creativity, and lived experience of building her own garden from scratch really set her apart. She took the time to understand what mattered to us and how much time we realistically had for maintenance, resulting in a garden design that is both beautiful and sustainable. Her growing-from-seed and composting workshops were also invaluable, giving us the confidence to garden more eco-consciously. We couldn’t recommend Sarah more highly.”
